Worship and choir

A team, recorded as one sound.

Sunday can hide a lot. A recording cannot. A worship team or a choir at SN7 is planned so the blend, the time, and the lead vocal still make sense when the room is no longer helping you.

Live room with drums, bass, guitars, and percussion for worship and choir sessions.

Why a church session is its own service

A solo vocal is one microphone and one opinion. A worship team is drums, bass, keys or guitar, a lead, and a stack of voices that must agree. A choir adds blend, parts, and the simple problem of people standing in the wrong place. Treating that as "a normal vocal booking" is how the day collapses.

The live room already holds a drum kit, bass, acoustic guitar, and percussion. Bring the players who know the song. If the arrangement still needs writing, book production before the full team stands in the room. Paying twelve people to wait while the form is invented is the expensive way to learn that lesson.

How we record the group

Bands are tracked so the rhythm section is in time before the lead vocal is asked to carry the emotion. Choirs are recorded either as a group, when the blend is the point, or section by section when the parts are not yet stable. We decide that after we hear a rehearsal recording or a live phone video. Send it. A two-minute clip from practice tells us more than a paragraph of optimism.

The lead lyric stays intelligible. Choir width is a support, not a fog. If the song is for a congregation, say so. The mix of a congregational song and the mix of a performance single are not identical, and we should not pretend they are. The longer notes are in the worship-team guide.

What the church should organise

  • One person who can approve a take. Not a committee in the doorway.
  • Lyrics printed, in the language you will sing, with the parts marked.
  • A click or a guide if the team is used to one. Tell us before the day.
  • A start time the drummer can actually meet. The session begins with the rhythm, not with the soloist.

When the song is tracked, it moves to mixing. Do not ask the choir to stay for the mix. Their job is the performance.

Questions about this service

How many singers can you take?

Tell us the number. A small group fits the vocal position in sections. A larger choir is planned as a group recording or as section passes. We will not squeeze a choir into a booking that was priced for one singer.

Can we record more than one song in a day?

Sometimes. It depends on whether the band changes instrumentation and whether the choir parts are already rehearsed. Rehearsed songs move. Unrehearsed songs consume the clock.

Do you travel to our church to record the team?

The controlled recording is at the studio. Recording a live service in your building is a different brief and sits with live sound and location recording. Ask, and describe the room.
